Hello, Fashiongirl here!
Birdie asked me to post a fun project just in time for the cool weather, so I’m going to show you a couple of easy-peasy ways to make cozy arm warmers from a pair of socks!

We’ve got two different styles of warmers: a long “tube-style” and a shorter “thumb-style”.
Tube-style Arm Warmers
Step 1 {left}: Start with a pair of clean, dry socks that are comfortably snug on your arm. For our tube-style, I picked a pair of super-long, men’s tube socks.

Step 2 {right}: Snip off the rounded toe, about 3 inches from the end.

Step 3 {left}: Fold back the cut edge by about 1/4″ to make a little cuff.
Step 4 {right}: Done! Slip over your arms until cuff hits the bottom of your fingers and rock your new look!
Thumb-style Arm Warmers
Step 1 {left}: For this style, I picked a shorter, thinner sock. Begin by carefully sniping off a teeny piece of the heel. This creates the hole for your thumb to slip through, so make it tiny, because the sock will stretch.

Step 2 {right}: Snip off the rounded toe. Be sure to cut at least 2 inches above the top of the thumb hole.

Step 3 {left}: Try it on and make any adjustments. Once you’ve got a fit you like, use it as a “pattern” to cut the second.
Step 4 {right}: Ta-da! Slip over your wrists until fingers and thumb peek out and you are good to go!
Tips:
- + Sharp scissors work best, so watch your fingers.
- + For a more finished look, fold the cut edge in about 1/4″ and hand-stitch around the tube.
- + Layer different lengths, patterns and colors on your arms for fun combos!
- + Make some for family and friends as gifts or get together and teach them how to make a pair…Everybody likes to be warm!
- + Recycle old fave socks, mix and match ones that are missing “mates”, or trade with friends.
Have fun!
